The Who, How and What!

How We can Help You Build, Design, Refresh and More

It was 8 years ago and we had been up one wall and down many others when we decided why not make this a thing. With over 15 years of renovation and build design experience, we decided to make our Sturgeon Lake cottage our home and start designing for the Kawartha lifestyle which had really become, quite literally, second nature for us. With its sprawling fields, lakes and woods, all producing endless inspiration, we knew the Kawartha lifestyle was something we could translate and build our business around.

A project on Sturgeon Lake demonstrates the expansive views that provide us with daily inspiration and insight into the Kawartha lifestyle.

Our sauna project also provides Kawartha views and inspiration for how make your Kawartha lifestyle your own.

As designers, we are also problem solvers, creative makers and sometimes magicians. We would need to offer our clients an array of choices and design levels with a connected network of products, suppliers, and manufacturers. As a result, Home by Tim + Chris acts as the boutique design firm foundation. From there, we can offer multiple types of design services, architectural build solutions, drafting, and custom millwork with a whole host of everything in between. To say we can offer everything under one roof would be an under-statement! And we definitely don’t paddle our own canoe, our team is what makes us uniquely positioned to offer the region what we do.

But we literally do paddle canoes lol!

Design is extremely personal. And often in the Kawarthas it’s a piece of history. A historic cottage, a farmhouse, an old boathouse, a bunkie, a multi-generational residence, or a new build entirely. When we enter our client’s lives, we are aware of the personal and intimate process that is happening in their space. Which is why our work is influenced by you but driven by us. Our projects tell a personal story and we create spaces that need to function for the way our clients really live their lives. Home by Tim + Chris offers:

  • Design levels from Room Refresh through to whole home design

  • Bespoke furniture and custom millwork solutions

  • Landscaping design

  • Commercial design

  • Upholstery services

After meeting clients in our studio, we start to understand their needs and can construct budgets and timelines to match their vision. Our meetings also take place on site, where we can get an idea of topography, client lifestyle, views, access points and understand the feel for what a site tells us in terms of aesthetic and personality. Our blog on How We Work With You provides further detail on our design process along with an in depth overview of exactly what you get throughout each phase of the design story.

We like to think we can overcome any build design challenge and working with our preferred build partner Four Points Construction means we are well equipped to offer solutions that find efficiencies, streamlined communications and an exceptional outcome.

Our Nahma project on Balsam Lake in conjunction with Four Points Construction is a multi-generational residence on the site of the historical family owned and operated Nahma Lodge.

Our “Tell Us About Your Project” feature on our website, allows visitors to outline their vision and wish list as a first step in understanding a potential project and client fit.

Room by Tim + Chris

Located in Fenelon Falls, Room by Tim + Chris was born out of a desire to feature Canadian focused products for home and cottage life. It only seemed a natural next step to offer clients and visitors alike another version of how to access the Tim + Chris aesthetic. Through Room, we are able to offer clients discounts and access to exceptional design, a turn key furnishing solution and the details that make a house a home. Often when designing, we are thinking of the style and personality that we want to inject into a project. Room allows us to imagine the art of install day up front when we are pulling together sample boards, renderings and building the “mood” and inspirational vision.

Our online store also provides access to Room products anytime, anywhere. A store visit often leads to a browse through our art gallery and it’s no surprise that sometimes that’s how clients discover our studio which leads to further conversations and even full home design projects.

Products like these featured in our design projects, make it easy to see the role that Room by Tim + Chris plays in our turn key design solution story.

In 2018 we decided that we liked art so much that we needed our own gallery. It’s certainly one way to ensure you are surrounded by beautiful inspiration and can provide access for clients as part of our turn-key design strategy.

Local artist John Lennard is known for his vivid and colourful landscape paintings, as he captures the effects of colour drenched in sunlight and hidden in the shadows.

The gallery features everything from contemporary art, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, fibre, and mixed media arts. We also offer exhibition programming to feature local artists from the Kawartha Lakes region and our artist talks are popular, providing our area with access to art and culture for all ages.

Shop online or visit the gallery in person in downtown Fenelon Falls.

Art at work in our Clear Lake project

Even a Memory Stone piece from local artist Christy Haldane, makes it into our project design showing the care and attention to detail that Home by Tim + Chris enjoy in all our projects. See more of Christy’s artwork here.

Point of Connection

We’d love to have you visit the store, studio and gallery anytime. Fast forward to where we are now, we can’t believe what we’ve built and the team that have made it all possible. Clients that have become friends, friends who have become clients and we haven’t even told you about our passion project The Grove Theatre!

The who, how and what have come full circle. We continue to enjoy the design process with clients whose lives are made more meaningful, more functional and more beautiful through good design. A lot of water under the dock so to speak, but we are off to take in another Kawartha sunset!

Yours truly
Tim + Chris
