The Grove Theatre
The limelight belongs to Tim Wisener and Chris Van Lierop when it comes to live theatre! Tim co-founded The Grove and along with partner Chris, designed and built the theatre in 2022 when they realized there was an opportunity for a unique and interesting outdoor venue to contribute to the art and culture scene in the Kawarthas.
The Grove Theatre, as a professional performing arts company, is the first artistic venture of its kind in the Kawartha Lakes community. At its idyllically located outdoor amphitheatre, The Grove presents an annual season of its own theatre productions, mounted in repertory, along with appearances by renowned Canadian guest artists, community events, and now, in the latest addition to its programming, a drama camp for young people.
300 Seat Amphitheatre
The Grove theatre seats 300 and is built into a garden grove. When lit at night, The Grove has even a well-travelled performer, exclaiming about the truly experiential feel to this one-of-a-kind venue. The venue is attracting attendees and patrons from all over the Kawartha Lakes region and has quickly gained recognition.
About Tim + Chris
Tim sits on the Board of Directors for The Grove, he is also co-owner of Home by Tim + Chris, a full-service interior design firm located in Fenelon Falls. In 2022 Tim and his partner Chris opened Room by Tim + Chris, a furniture, textiles, and home décor store which shares an open concept space with their Colborne Street Gallery. He is a significant contributor to the vitality of the Fenelon Falls area, where he spent his summers growing up. Tim has a rich history in the performing arts as Associate Producer of Canadian Stage, Director of Client and Patron Service for EPCOR Center for the Performing Arts, and Manager of Artistic Operations for the Alberta Ballet.
The Power of Live Performance
Tim’s pursuit of bringing the power of live performance to audiences and to further build upon a locally vibrant art scene, has been a passion since settling back in the Kawarthas over 7 years ago. Being part of the growth of cultural and business assets in the area, has been a role that Tim and Chris have embraced. Building and growing along with the community is both fun and inspiring for the pair.
